I wrote here once before about the website called “Dial Idol” that uses a technology based on computerized phone calls to the show’s contestant phone lines, and an analysis of the busy signals obtained. It is uncannily accurate–but not completely, and certainly with a fairly large margin of error at these early stages.
I checked it out tonight and was pleased to see that it keeps its statistics in “real time” and you can see pretty much what’s up within minutes of the show’s closing.
My concern had been that the lovely Antonella Barba–who, frankly, did not sing well tonight–might get voted off too early, and it appears that she won’t. I want to watch her a few more weeks before her inevitable eviction because: She personifies, to me, every high school girl I ever surreptitiously watched in study hall from behind my MAD Magazines, and who–if she would have only come over and begged to be my girlfriend instead of snickering at my thick glasses, my dorky haircut, and the sliderule in my pocket–could have changed my self-concept such that–oh, I don’t know. I just wish that she could have been my girlfriend in high school…

…sigh…
[Update: 2/23/07–Week 1 results demonstrate how the system is not infallible. Specifically, the last place selection for the girls–Alaina Alexander–whose stats showed virtual non-existence (leading me to wonder if there wasn’t some kind of technical glitch), was not even in the bottom two last night. Go figure…]

Nice.

Didn’t I just hear that she may be “dumped” for some rather racey pictures that have leaked out? She made a semi-porno calendar for her long time boyfriend. More to follow……
