  1. Shep surprises me at times. His terse encounter with his fellow Foxheads during Hurricane Katrina is particularly memorable for me. His stunned disbelief at what was happening on the streets of New Orleans and his visible shame about it as an American was particularly pointed. When none if it seemed to register with all the dunderheads back in the studio, he just got in their face about it. He was shouting for all of us at that point as we all watched and cried in shame at our country’s disgrace which was laid out bare and naked for all the world to see.

But the fact that he pops up on rare occasions at such a blatant propaganda arm like Fox and espouses views contrary to his network’s goals does not completely make up for the fact he still carries a lot water for Fox’s outright and purposeful lying. I know he can’t just up and burn his bridges, but the fact that he will occasionally go against the grain does not do much to mitigate his overall complicity in the destructive aims of his network. Kudos to him for standing up when he does. But it’s a lot like peeing into the ocean. The overall effect is pretty inconsequential.

  2. Shep first won me over with his “…We do not f!cking torture…” outburst.
