Fallout Shelter Handbook 1962

Blogger Ward Jenkins has somehow come across an old fallout shelter manual and scanned and published a number of wonderful pictures online.

For you kids not in the know, back in the day we Boomers used to fret a lot about the inevitable nuclear war with the Soviet Union.  We were all encouraged to build backyard fallout shelters to survive.  Good times!

New fans of the madness would enjoy looking at the movie Atomic Cafe and for a quick fix take a look at this old Civil Defense film paid for by our government called “Duck and Cover”.

Readers might enjoy the classic Robert Heinlein novel Farnham’s Freehold about post-nuclear life, thanks to survival after living in a fallout shelter.  I read it in high school and loved it.

You kids need to get up to speed–it’ll help you understand why Mom and Dad are so crazy after all these years!

My Thanksgiving Stock Pick

    Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow, everyone!

My promised stock pick is Hurco Companies (HURC).  I hope it isn’t a ”turkey”.  (Heh heh)

This stock ended up on my Magic Screen and I liked the fact that it was a computer-related company–I don’t own much tech, so this helps me diversify–and it is small and has a low P/E ratio (less than 10, as a matter of fact).  I loaded up on it.

Good luck and Happy Investing!
