Boy, did I enjoy reading this gentleman’s book BANKER TO THE POOR.

Mr. Yunus and the bank he founded won this year’s Nobel Peace Prize.

I had first heard about Mr. Yunus’s “micro-credit” program (wherein small amounts of money are loaned to the hard-core poor to help them establish their own businesses) on National Public Radio a year or two ago.  The NPR program was about women in Bangladesh who would buy a cell phone with their loan and then rent out its service on a call-by-call basis to other people in their community.  (By the way, the majority-interest co-sponsor of this program is Telenor of Norway (TELN)–last week’s stock pick!)

This guy is just brilliant and I heartily recommend the book.  Read it!
