Had A Rough Week?

This will take care of everything.  My gift to you:

Pastor Ted

     Big deal–another tele-Evangelist in a sex scandal.

This one interests me more than most, because I just saw this guy in a documentary a week ago.

First of all, to get you up to speed: Pastor Ted just got accused of having had a 3-year affair with a male prostitute.  Tsk! Tsk!  Not that there’s anything wrong with that (unless you have a wife and 5 kids–which he does).  Allegations of drug use (meth!).

Pastor Ted has been denying this, but as I check the Internet just now there are reports that nationally-renowned voice expert Richard Sanders (Jon Benet Ramsey and Kobe Bryant cases) has just stated that the voice mails from Pastor Ted to Mike Jones appear to match the good Reverend’s voice.  Another report on the Net says that he has confessed to “some” of the charges.

Pastor Ted is a long-time Bush ally in the fight to stop gay marriage.  Gosh.

The documentary I had seen a week ago was one put together by atheist author Richard Dawkins in connection with his book THE GOD DELUSION (#2 on Amazon the last couple of weeks).  In it, Pastor Ted called Dawkins “arrogant”.

That’s different from “hypocrite”, right?

[Update: Richard Dawkins was “featured” in SOUTH PARK last night.  I have a YouTube link here, but don’t know how long that’s going to be good for–what with all of the Boy Scouts being employed to look for copyright infringement and all.  If you are not a SOUTH PARK fan, this would not be an episode to choose for your first viewing!]

Tag Clouds

If you’ve done much web-surfing, you’ve come across a site or two that uses something called “tag clouds” which graphically show the popularity of word usage on their site or around the web (an example being shown, barely legibly, at the left).

I came across an interesting site that keeps track of the words in our nation’s Presidents’ speeches–all the way back to John Adams in 1776.

Guess what George W’s biggest scariest word is?

Move the slider at the top of the page to go back through time and get a flavor of what was on each President’s mind.
