WICHITA – George Tiller, the Wichita doctor who became a national lightning rod in the debate over abortion, was shot to death this morning as he walked into church services.
Tiller, 67, was shot just after 10 a.m. at Reformation Lutheran Church at 7601 E. 13th, where he was a member of the congregation. Witnesses and a police source confirmed Tiller was the victim.
No information has been released about whether a suspect is in custody. Police said they are looking for white male who was driving a 1990s powder blue Ford Taurus with Kansas license plate 225 BAB.
Homicide detectives and Sedgwick County District Attorney Nola Foulston arrived at the church after the shooting.
Members of the congregation who were inside the sanctuary at the time of the shooting were being kept inside the church by police, and those arriving were being ushered into the parking lot. Witnesses are being transported downtown for interviews and other members of the congregation are slowly being released from inside the sanctuary….[Rest of article]
Gotta love these guys:
Great song, though:
Not familiar with “machinima”? It is movies made from computer games software. People have been doing it for years–as I recall, starting with the original DOOM game (?). Here is a fairly lengthy one done using the HALO 3 game engine. A huge amount of work must have been involved, and I think it came out great:
Man I love these. This has been around for a while, but just in case you haven’t seen it:
Hey, I’m not totally heartless–these commercials tug at my heartstrings, too.
Nice guitar soundtrack to this one. The guitar tab is here.
Well…yeah! Like all my life. (And I do so love my naps). Who isn’t?
I told him so, and he suggested I do a “sleep study”. (I must have looked particularly bleary-eyed that day, I guess).
Thank goodness for health insurance, because this cost, like, $2500 for the overnight–which is up there in Elliot-Spitzer-land when it comes to spending bedtime money.
Turns out I have, gulp, a serious case of sleep apnea. Serious as in that during my first hour I stopped breathing for 10-plus seconds a total of 37 times! Yikes!
Sleep apnea has been linked to a bunch of nasty maladies, particularly in the heart disease/stroke areas. I’ve got to think that neglecting to breathe all night long cannot be very good for the brain either.
So now I’ve got to wear one of those masks that looks just like the one in the picture above.
My concern being:Â Will this adversely affect my social life when all of my girlfriends see me coming to bed looking all “Silence of the Lambs”, especially now that they know I’m probably a little brain-damaged…?
