Evil Dead–The Musical

Category: Music — jerry @ 11:56 am

It is a well-known fact that the Pettit Boys all love the EVIL DEAD series of movies.

As a matter of fact, the Pettit Boys love all things zombie.

And we love musicals.

So when is this one coming to Omaha? (This is an actual musical)

I can’t wait!

OK, Now It’s Time To Just SHUT UP!

Category: Opinion — jerry @ 11:06 am

A few days ago, I linked to a sympathetic article about the “Reverend” Wright.

I’m coming to regret that.

It appears that he is just another clergyman with their all-too-common symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, which is (From Wikipedia):

A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

  • has a grandiose sense of self-importance
  • is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
  • believes that he or she is “special” and unique
  • requires excessive admiration
  • has a sense of entitlement
  • is interpersonally exploitative
  • lacks empathy
  • is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him or her
  • shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes
  • Yep. Not too much trouble coming up with five of them there.

And what happens to these guys when you put them into a career where they are not used to being criticized, where “their people” adulate and idolize them, is that they start to believe that they are “special” and “holy” men after all. And how dare we criticize them?!

That’s why we have the Culture of Cover-up in the priesthood of the Catholic Church, why we have our pious “Reverend” Jim Bakkers and Jimmy Swaggarts and Ted Haggards, and why we have characters like the “Reverend” Wright.

I hate to say it, but Hillary was right: It’s time for Obama to change churches.

So Is It Hannah NEVADA Now?

    I’m glad I had sons.

I hate to sound like an old fuddy-duddy, but…come on!

Why is our culture in such a hurry to start the slutification of our daughters? Plenty of time after 18.

And don’t get me wrong: Sluts can be fun.

But this little girl–role model for pretty much every 8-year-old girl in America–is 15.

Her parents were right there in the room with her as Annie Liebowitz shot the pictures for VANITY FAIR. What are they thinking?

I don’t remember “Doogie Howser” being pictured in BOYS LIFE nude except for his Scout neckerchief over his scrotum…

    From the NY TIMES:

LOS ANGELES — Fifteen years old, topless and wrapped in what appears to be a satin bedsheet in the June issue of Vanity Fair. Did Miley Cyrus, with the help of a controversy-courting magazine, just deliver a blow to the Walt Disney Company’s billion-dollar “Hannah Montana” franchise?

Some parents reacted with outrage over the weekend when the television program “Entertainment Tonight” began showing commercials promoting a scoop: Ms. Cyrus, the star of the wholesome Disney Channel blockbuster “Hannah Montana,” had posed topless, albeit with her chest covered, for the Vanity Fair photographer, Annie Leibovitz.

Screen grabs of the photo quickly popped up online, sparking a blogosphere debate. “Bonfire anyone?” wrote Lin Burress on her marriage and parenting blog, Telling It Like It Is, referring to the mountain of Hannah Montana retail items — makeup, shoes, clothes — in the marketplace. “Parents should be extremely concerned,” Ms. Burress said in an interview. “Very young girls look up to Miley Cyrus as a role model.” [Rest of article]

That’s right. Today this blog has existed for two years–bringing you godless liberal ideology, book and movie reviews, investment advice, videos and music in questionable taste, and much, much more.

I enjoy all of your comments–even from the misguided fools who disagree with me.

Thanks for making this so much fun.

Smithson’s gone–the best singer of the bunch, but unfortunately lacking in the charisma required to win this contest. Here’s the latest odds per the Bodog site:

    David Archuleta
    Brooke White
    Jason Castro
    David Cook
    Syesha Mercado
